Every Writer Should Read This Book

There was this book I started reading a few months ago, then quit. (I’m horrible like that.) I don’t know why I did, but I know I got a feeling for the emotional roller coaster that was coming, and I didn’t want to get so invested in the characters. (And I call myself a writer. 🤦) ANYWAY, a few days ago, I picked it back up . . . and didn’t put it back down.

The book is Wishtress by Nadine Brandes.

Every writer NEEDS to read this book. It is a masterclass in emotion, character arcs, the human spirit (both its darkness and its redeem-ability), plot, twists, and conflicts. Yes, the ending BEGS for a sequel. (I’m begging for a sequel.) But it makes sense to have ended it that way, because some things just couldn’t be resolved yet.

I am floored by this book. I encourage all of you to read it for yourselves. Then come back and tell me what you thought because I MUST squeal with somebody else about it. 🥰

  1. I tend to pick up books and then not finish them (not necessarily because they’re bad, but I get busy with life and…then yeah, reading takes a backseat. Trying to work on finishing instead *fingers crossed* lol.) Anywho, thanks for the rec! I’ve seen this book going around Goodreads, so I must check it out and add it to my shelf.

        I love this book so much! I keep telling everyone to read this too!
        My favorite characters is Bastiaan!!! 😍 He is such a good character and I loved his relationship with Runt! Who is your favorite character?

      5. YES!!! He really does! Bastiaan spent thirty-two years with the old king, basically studying what it means to be king to teach the heir how to be a good king and its RUNT!!! I love how the whole story works together! ☺️
