Ladies and Gentlemen . . . it’s a Blog Tour

Yes, indeed. Today is the day we celebrate the release of Tricia Mingerink’s and Sarah Addison-Fox’s newest books. My participation is going to focus on Tricia’s book, but I’ll have the schedule for the tour posted at the end, so you can take a look around!

Cool titles, right? And two seriously enchanting covers. Wow.

So, to celebrate the release of Dagger’s Sleep on the 28th, I have had the privilege to host an author interview with Tricia. But first, the synopsis of her newest book.

A prince cursed to sleep.

A princess destined to wake him.

A kingdom determined to stop them.

High Prince Alexander has been cursed to a sleep like unto death, a curse that will end the line of the high kings and send the Seven Kingdoms of Tallahatchia into chaos. With his manservant to carry his luggage and his own superior intelligence to aid him, Alex sets off to find one of the Fae and end his curse one way or another.

A hundred years later, Princess Rosanna learns she is the princess destined by the Highest King to wake the legendary sleeping prince. With the help of the mysterious Daemyn Rand, can she find the courage to finish the quest as Tallahatchia wavers on the edge of war?

One curse connects them. A hundred years separate them. From the rushing rivers of Tallahatchia’s mountains to the hall of the Highest king himself, their quests will demand greater sacrifice than either of them could imagine.

And the interview with Tricia – which can also be translated as the first author interview I’ve ever done. 🙂

1. Welcome! What was it like to publish your first book?
It was really cool. I decided to be a published author when I was 6 years old and it was my dream ever since.
That’s great that you knew so early on. 2. Would you say your writing/publishing experience has changed since your first book?
Yes, definitely. Things are different once you are published. There is a lot more pressure on your writing once you have fans waiting for the next one and you don’t want to disappoint them.
3. What are your hopes for this new series?
I really hope it connects with readers just as much as The Blades of Acktar did and perhaps find an even wider audience.
4. Would you say there is one author who has most influenced your writing? If so, who?
C.S. Lewis did much to shape my writing. The Chronicles of Narnia was one of the first fantasy books I read, and the way Lewis used fantasy to convey Christian themes still blows my mind each time i read the books.
Agreed! Narnia was truly inspired! 5. Which do you prefer: Cats or dogs?
Dogs all the way.
What??? How about daytime writing vs. nighttime writing?
Daytime, but since I work full time I usually end up writing at night.
C.S. Lewis or J.R.R Tolkien?
If you hadn’t guessed already, C.S. Lewis. I re-read The Chronicles of Narnia at least once a year. I think I’ve only actually read The Lord of the Rings all the way through once. The writing is well done, but C.S. Lewis holds my heart.
Thanks a lot, Tricia!

Dagger's Sleep Cover Reveal

Yep, you saw correctly. There’s a cover reveal going on today, and it is for a new book from Tricia Mingerink. Her last books were the Blades of Acktar Series, and they were some incredible books. If you’re looking for themes of adventure, faith, action, epic characters, then there are the books you’ve waited for. But today, we’re talking about Tricia’s new book, the first of a new series, and I warn you, the cover is kinda cool.

So of course, I’ll make you wait for it.

. . . a little longer . . .

. . . a little longer . . .

Are you ready?

Are you sure you’re ready??

(Isn’t that cool?)

About the book:

One curse connects them. A hundred years separate them. From the rushing rivers of
Tallahatchia’s mountains to the hall of the Highest king himself, their quests will demand greater sacrifice than either of them could imagine.

Doesn’t that sound good? Get this – the fairytale retellings I’ve read, I haven’t liked, so if you’re in the same position, just know that Tricia is a fantastic author. I have a feeling this series is going places. 🙂 And guess what? It releases on MAY 28! That’s only a couple months away!

About the author:

To make things even more exciting, Tricia Mingerink is going to be co-hosting a blog tour from May 22 to 28 with Sarah Addison-Fox to celebrate the release of both of their latest books. Her next book Dissociate releases May 22. More details about blog tour will be coming in April.

So, looks like 2018 will be full of exciting new book releases and blog tours! If you haven’t read Tricia’s Blades of Acktar Series, you have just enough time to do so before Dagger’s Sleep is released!

My Top Upcoming Releases of 2018 (for all my fellow bookworms)

There are so many delightful books coming out in 2018, every writer’s or reader’s blog should be doing this. I hadn’t planned on it before, but some of these are just too good to not share. What books are you most looking forward to this year??

1. Fawkes (Nadine Brandes)

Not only does this book sound totally incredible, it is the newest standalone from an all-time favorite author. I loved her previous trilogy – and this is a historical fantasy – so it is an auto-buy. Fawkes releases in July.

2. The Man He Never Was (James Rubart)

Not only do I personally love some of Rubart’s previous work (Well Spring Novels, Book of Days, etc.), but the premise of this story is incredibly intriguing. I think it will have the same impact that his other work did. Plus, it releases in about a month, which is quite exciting!

3. The Ghost Ship (Paul Regnier)

Who doesn’t love a good science fiction from Enclave publishers? Actually, I have yet to read book one of the Space Drifters Series, but since the first two sound so cool, and since I plan to read the series, I decided to put number three on this list. It releases in April.

4. Bitter Winter (Jaye L Knight)

This is the fifth installment into the Ilyon Chronicles Series, and therefore is an auto-buy. No official release date yet, but it should be this year. Oh, so exciting! Seriously, if you haven’t read the series yet, you must. 🙂

And there you have it. I’m sure there are a few more books out there I’m not thinking of and I know there are many more that I wouldn’t particularly care to put on this list. 🙂 That’s why you have to tell me the books you are most looking forward to in 2018. It’s going to be a delightful year, isn’t it? Let’s chat in the comments!

The Blades of Acktar Book Release and Review

Today there’s something exciting going on the book world – a release of the final Blades of Acktar story! Deliver can be found on Amazon, so I highly recommend you jump over there and grab this incredible book. But before you do, let me squeal about it a little longer. Actually, I’m squealing about all of Tricia Mingerink’s books. The Blades of Acktar series has truly inspired me, and I know many other readers as well. If you’re picking up these books for the first time, I assure you, you will be far from disappointed.

MY REVIEW OF BOOK FOUR OF THE BLADES OF ACKTAR SERIES, DELIVER

When I finished reading book three, Defy, I was blown away. But I was also skeptical about there being a book four. The series, I thought, could have ended with Defy. When I jumped into the launch team for this book, I was blown away yet again. This is the kind of story you wish you could claim to have written yourself. 🙂

Deliver picks up exactly where Defy left off, and (slight spolier alert) we see Martyn’s POV for the first time. Given the struggle between him and Leith in Defy, the stage was set for part of Deliver’s plot. In this book, we see incredible character development, as well as a certain new character . . .  Oh, but that really would be a spoiler. I shall say no more. Just, please, read this book so we can squeal about that together!

One of the highlights I’ve found in Tricia’s books is the character development. It is so smoothly interwoven and often extremely powerful, as it was in Deliver. It’s sad to see the series end, but for where it has come from, it ended well.

Plot: 5/5  Need I say more??

Characters: 5/5  They were all awesome! Completely fangirl-worthy. Even Martyn. 😉

Dialog: 4/5  Dialog is a pretty tricky business when you’re a writer, but the Blades of Acktar series has always handled it well.

Worried about violence? That’s a gold star too. Tricia doesn’t leave it out by any means, but it is handled expertly, and is less in this book than in Deny and Defy.

In short, I absolutely loved this story. There was so much power, so much meaning, so much to capture a reader’s attention and make them hang on! With the Blades of Acktar characters – Leith, Renna, Martyn, Shad, Brandi, Keevan – it has been a wild ride. Here in Deliver it comes to a close, but it does so with hope, promise and a smile.

BOOK COVER AND SYNOPSIS:

Deliver-Cover-Revised-Header-041117

Can something broken ever heal?

Martyn is broken. After torturing his best friend, he doesn’t belong anywhere in Acktar. No matter how far he runs, he can’t lose his guilt.

Leith is broken. While healing from the torture he received at Nalgar Castle, he struggles to find his new role. But can a Blade ever outrun his past?

The country is broken. Bitterness divides town against town, neighbor against neighbor. What will it take to deliver Acktar from itself?

They face their hardest battle yet.
Peace.
